From Storm Clouds to Sunshine: My Weekend at City of OM
Share
Dear Overthinkers,
I almost didn’t go.
The week leading up to City of OM was filled with every kind of anxious thought you could imagine. I had just received 50 new items for the shop — all beautiful, meaningful pieces I was proud of — but I couldn’t stop overthinking how on earth I was going to sell them. What if I travelled six hours, invested all this money, and walked away with just as much as I came with?
To make matters worse, the night before the event, the rain came down hard - a severe thunderstorm warning. The forecast looked grim and so did my mindset. I barely slept. My brain was on a loop of what-ifs, spiralling into worst-case scenarios.
And yet… I showed up.
The morning was cold and rainy, just as predicted. I reminded myself why I started this — that this brand was built from messy, tender moments just like this one. So I leaned into the uncertainty and decided to make the best of it.
What happened next, I really wasn’t prepared for.
Within minutes of opening, people were at my booth — smiling, cold and wet from the rain, and excited. Some told me they had come specifically to find The Overthinkers Club. Others shared how they discovered us, what the brand meant to them, and the comfort they felt seeing us in real life.
The rain didn’t stop them. And slowly, it stopped holding me back too.
Throughout the day, it continued to rain and the cold never really let up — but people kept showing up. I met so many kind, thoughtful humans who reminded me why I do this. We swapped stories, shared laughs, and connected over the simple truth that we’re all just doing our best to love ourselves through the chaos.
By the end of the day, the clouds finally parted. The sun peeked through. And somehow… we had sold almost everything.
It didn’t feel real. It still doesn't!
We packed up lighter than we came, with full hearts. My dad and I drove home with a quiet sense of awe and so much gratitude — not just for the sales, but for the conversations, the connections, the reminders that this brand is reaching people in the way I hoped it would.
To every person who stopped by, who shared kind words, who welcomed us so warmly into the City of OM community — thank you. Truly.
I'm just a girl, with a dream - slowly coming true with your help.
Welcome to the club. We’re so glad you’re here.
